A wristband, as anybody can guess, is a band of cotton or another material that encircles the wrist and is used for multiple applications. Wristbands are employed in medical field to collect medical data and are also used as an ID for events. Wristbands have also been associated with sports.
Wristbands have been specially designed for several games such Gymnastics, weight lifting and boxing. But there are elastic wrist support as well. They provide an essentially needed support to wrists that undergo a lot of stress. A wristband may be worn for safety purposes during any sports activity or exercise.
Physiotherapists strongly recommend the use of wristbands to weightlifters while lifting weights in a gym or during competitions. For getting extra support for the wrists specially designed wrist bands are available. The wrist wrap should be tightly wrapped around the wrist to get maximum support while performing the exercise of weightlifting. Apart from providing an appropriate support, the tight grip prompts the weightlifter to try lifting more weights, thus improving his efficiency. These wraps are designed so smartly that the cuff slips around the wrist of the wearer. It is provided with a Velcro that is supposed to be secured through the hook to fit tightly around the wrist. The use of wrist bands limits the chances of an injury as they stiffen the area around the wrist.
Longer exercise wristbands of dependable quality are available for those who go for painstaking stretching exercises or aerobics. Being made of terry cloth and cotton they are helpful in absorbing perspiration.
A swoosh of three inches should suffice for a habitual jogger. The material used for making these comprises of 70%cotton, 21% nylon, and 4% Spandex. They help in sweat control and are very attractive as they may be embroidered with logos and symbols.
No doubt exercising is vitally needed for a healthy body, but it’s important to prevent it from injuries, especially wrist injuries. The wristband shouldn’t be avoided while exercising.
