Treadmill Reviews

Treadmill 350 pound weight capacity

As difficult as it may be to start an exercise program, if you are overweight it can be just as hard finding the right exercise equipment. Being overweight is not fun but having made the decision to buy a treadmill the first problem is knowing what treadmill is going to work for you.

Instead of heading down to your local sports store you can now find the right treamill online as there are a number of online suppliers with a whole range of brands and models to suit every body type.

There are a few things to look out for when selecting your treamill so hopefully the following tips and product ratings and reviews will help you make an informed decision.

Firstly, the weight capacity! Have you ever read a treadmills specifications and seen the words "treadmill 350 pound weight capacity"? If you were a 350-pound individual you might have thought hey...that how much I weigh, this looks like a good option! Well I here to say that its not. I'm not saying that a 350 pound weight capacity is not high its more that its not good for a 350 individual. You see a 350 pound capacity is basically the machines limit. You don't want to be using a machine that's being pushed to the limit as soon as you get on it let alone if you start jogging! Think about the wear and tear to the machine after 6 months.

Your best option is to find a machine that has a weight capacity around 100-150 pounds higher than your own weight. You don't want to be paying for costly repairs a few weeks after the warranty runs out.

Secondly, the motor power! If you are a heavy individual it makes sense to choose a treadmill trainer that has a strong, powerful motor. Anything from 2.5 HP upwards depending on how heavy you are. Treadmills range in motor power from 1.5 HP upto 4.5 HP

Finally, the warranty! If you're overweight the last thing you want is a machine that has only a 6 month warranty. This is the first sign that the machine is not the most heavy duty gym equipment around. Try to find a treadmill with at least a 2-3 year parts warranty. You'll be lucky to find many treadmills with more than a years labour warranty so don't worry to much about that. The parts are the expensive things so make sure the warranty is good.

Its hard to make a treadmill comparison for you so I'll just give you my thought based on experience of the best treamills or treadmill brands in each of the above categories

For weight capacity - Noramco Treadmills go upto 600lb weight capacity. Having said that most brands have at least one or two treadmills that have upto a 400 pound wight capacity

For motor power - Landice, Star Trac and Life Fitness are all good

For warranty - You can't best Endurance treadmills. They offer an in home lifetime warranty.

The best advice I can give is to do your own searching using the tips I've provided above. You'll find a model that has a good deal on all three areas and that is reasonable priced.
